Summer is officially here, and at New Brighton Care Center, we’re soaking in the sunshine while putting health and safety first. As temperatures rise and days grow longer, it’s the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities, spend time with loved ones, and embrace the vibrant energy of the season. But for seniors, it’s also a time to stay mindful of summer-specific health needs.

Whether it’s staying hydrated, avoiding heat exposure, or maintaining routines, we’re here to support our residents every step of the way. Because at New Brighton Care Center, your loved ones are our top priority, and summer should be safe, joyful, and full of meaningful moments.

💛 Why Summer Safety Matters for Seniors

As we age, our bodies don’t adjust to heat as easily, and chronic conditions or medications can make it harder to stay cool. That’s why it’s especially important to keep wellness top of mind for older adults during the summer months. The good news? A few simple tips go a long way in keeping our residents healthy, happy, and comfortable.

🌿 3 Summer Health & Safety Tips for Seniors

1. Stay Hydrated—Even Before You’re Thirsty

Older adults are more prone to dehydration, especially in the heat. We encourage regular water intake throughout the day, even when not feeling thirsty. Adding fresh fruit, lemon slices, or herbal tea can make hydration more enjoyable.

2. Avoid Peak Heat Hours

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the sun is at its strongest. At our care center, we plan outdoor activities during cooler hours and ensure shaded areas are always available. Whether it’s a morning walk or a sunset social, we make sure fresh air can be enjoyed safely.

3. Dress Light & Protect the Skin

We help residents choose breathable, light-colored clothing and provide access to sun hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Skin protection is important at any age, and it’s just one of the ways we help everyone feel more comfortable outdoors.

🧡 Our Commitment to Summer Wellness

At New Brighton Care Center, we know that well-being isn’t just about safety, it’s also about joy, community, and connection. From popsicle socials to shaded garden chats, we’re building a summer full of fun while ensuring our residents are cared for in every detail.

We’re proud to be a place where health, happiness, and heartfelt care come together, not just in summer, but all year long.

🌤️ Wishing You a Safe & Happy Summer

To all our families and community members, we wish you a safe, sunshine-filled summer. Whether you’re visiting us for an event, spending time with a loved one, or simply enjoying the season, we’re honored to care for your family like our own.
